The Sportsmen Thank You

Thank you to the fans for all of your die hard support. We didn't fair too well in the playoffs (we didn't win a single game), but the experience will make us more dangerous for next year.

For those of you who voted that we wouldn't win another game all season- you were right. Our off-season training schedule is sure to make us title contenders for next year though. Check out the final poll and vote for the team MVP. A team vote provided the finalists, now you pick the winner. The MVP will win all you can eat wings and all you can drink beer at Legend's Bar and Grill, courtesy of Scott.

Playoff Time!

March Madness has come early this year.

The Sportsmen strategically secured the bottom seed in this year's Minneapolis D-League Playoffs. We saw the bottom seed as the most dramatic way to rise to be champions of the league, so we nailed that goal to say the least.

If you want your mind to be blown, come check out our first playoff game this Sunday, the 15th at 4:50pm at the Creekview Gym in North Mpls.

We Suck

We got destroyed last week (our team wasn't exactly in top condition come game time), but damn we look good in those custom jerseys!

Tractor Traylor Comes Up Big

On a night when only the 6 best looking members of The Sportsmen showed up to play, Tractor "J$" Traylor proved he deserved that big signing bonus. After Brendan's hip was crushed by a fat ass from the other team and we were down to only 5 players for the 2nd half, Tractor (our best conditioned athlete) picked up the slack and dominated both ends of the floor. His never-tired hustle paid off as the Sportsmen defeated Cheap Shots 41-36. We are now 2-1 and tied for 2nd place.

Next week (January 11th) come check us out- we play at 4:00pm at the Creekview gym, 5001 Humboldt Ave N. Afterwards we'll celebrate our victory at our practice facilities- Sporties- with cheap pitchers 'o beer.

The Sweet Taste Of Victory

The Sportsmen have moved back to a .500 record. Don't count on us losing again.

Moving into our by-week we are 1-1. Next game will be January 4th against the Cheap Shots. Come out and support your team- we'll be playing the night cap at 9:15pm at the Creekview Gym- 5001 Humboldt Ave. N.

Fan Teaser

Despite missing 2 players, and having at least 3 others very hung over, The Sportsmen brought their A-game last sunday for scrimmage night. Here's a quick clip of our mad skills. (we're skins in this video)

The infamous Natalie Schaefer designed the team logo this year. Even if we don't win a single game, we will definately be the best looking team out there. Thanks Nat!

Hey, We're A Real Team

So the commissioner's office finally got all of our paperwork notarized and we are now officially members of the Sunday night D-League (a capital D to signify the very Difficult competition).

The schedule mistakenly refers to us as The Sportsman instead of Sportsmen, but I'm sure after everyone sees our skills, they'll know what to call us. The very easy to read schedule is listed below. I'll make it more legible later.

Opening week is December 7th- first official game is the 13th. More details to come...

The Team Has Rebutted!

After extensive conversations and a few pysical altercations, a new team name has been chosen. In the wake of voter fraud, we felt it was only fair to go with the team name that recieved the most votes behind the 2 controversial leaders- and so The Sportsmen it is!!!

Congrats Natty Ice and Z Unit, you helped name MPLS's best team since the Lynx!

The forms are being filed, video profiles will be up next week, and we expect a big turnout for our first game. We're still waiting on that sponsorship... http://www.sportsmanspub.com/ ehem.

Alright- all the suggested team names that passed with the advisory committee's approval are listed to the right. The poll will be open until Monday morning the 2oth.
